Harness Your Power: Thinking Storms

Have you ever felt completely overwhelmed mentally, emotionally and physically when you begin to focus either on your fears or on intensely painful stories from your past?

I've decided to call these experiences "Thinking Storms."

I had a few today.  Some of my old financial fears were activated.  I sat and watched the mental patterns churn.  I noticed the sick feeling in my stomach and tension in my shoulders.  I could feel my breathing get faster.  The nervous inner energy translated into tapping my hand and wiggling my leg.

A thinking storm was in full force.

What could I do?

I've learned the past few years that there are plenty of ways to move into the eye of the thinking storms.  Here's what I did today:  I moved into my Observer role and watched the thoughts, observing them in detail.  I observed the way it moved through the emotional and physical body.  I knew what was going on inside myself because this old pattern has repeated itself thousands and thousands of times.

I smiled as I saw it, even in the midst of the intensity.  Then, I began with affirmations: "I am safe.  I am supported.  I am guided in every moment.  I am blessed beyond measure.  (Then, I listed every blessing I could think of).  I am abundantly cared for by the Universe.  I am healthy, happy and whole.  Everything I need moves easily into my life. .."

The old thoughts kept wanting to take over.  So, then, I moved into deep breathing.  I watched the mental patterns swirling.  I breathed and could sense an inner peace even as the thought storm seemed to intensify.

I just kept breathing and affirming what I WANTED rather than focusing on my fears.

My children entered the room.  I shifted my thoughts onto them, noticing every little detail of their lovely faces.  How beautiful they are.  How full of life.  I looked deeply into their eyes and saw the Spark of Life.  I felt a moment of incredible joy and fulfillment.

They left the room and those thinking storms wanted to restart.  I said a prayer and offered the mental burdens to the Divine.

Before I knew it, the storm had passed and my energy felt refreshed.

I wanted to share this with you because I experience the challenge of old thought patterns.  I just deal with them in a much different way now.  The thought storms do not have the same power over me.  I can be calm as they happen.

Hope these ideas will be helpful to you!
They sure work for me and my clients.

Affirmations.  Breathing.  Gratitude.  Mindfulness.  Prayer.  Handing over the Burdens.

Excellent tools to help you feel safe in the midst of the storms.

Harness Your Power: We Are All the Same

I'm sitting here this evening unwinding from the week.  I have CNN's Tribute, Hope for Haiti, playing in the background.  I've been sitting all week watching the images of destruction and suffering from Haiti.  In each woman, I see myself.  In each child, I see Maggie and Skye.  In each man, I see my husband and brother.  We are all the same.  We are so similar.

Too often we want to label and categorize, to separate ourselves by nationality, by skin color, by language, by religion.  Beneath it all our humanity joins us, beckoning us to remember that we are love in our essence.  We long for connection.  We desire a better future.  We wish for success and hunger for a sense of purpose.

As you walk through this week the challenge I offer us is to see the similarity.  Don't judge.  Join with others.  See deeply into their eyes.  Sense the energy.  Notice the pain points.  Watch the joyful moments.

In the words of American journalist, William Allen White, “If each man or woman could understand that every other human life is as full of sorrows, or joys, or base temptations, of heartaches and of remorse as his own . . . how much kinder, how much gentler he would be.”

May our spirits expand with compassion.  May our minds focus on peace.  May we seek to help one another and see the best in each other.

Could it be that our sole purpose here is to serve humanity?  Could it be that we are here for love not material gain?  Might it be that we are here to find a new paradigm of relating and joining with one another so that we decrease the suffering on our planet?

Consider these ideas.  Meditate upon them.  Look within and find what your purposeful part is....there is a specific reason you are here, a profound reason you are walking the planet.  I pray you come to see how important you are to the whole of Life.

With my deepest love, a heart that melts and overflows with compassion and a desire to serve others,

Harness Your Power: Live & Love for Today

In light of the recent occurences in Haiti, I have reminded that TODAY truly is the only day we have.  We never know how our lives might change in an instant.  In fact, a family friend died suddenly this week.  She had no idea her time to move on would arrive so quickly.  It did.

I was reminded of a video I created called Life Is a Dash .  It goes by so quickly.  Please watch this and make sure you live with purpose and passion.

Live for today.  Love with all your heart.  Move beyond judgment and drama and enjoy the people in your life.  Find what you have in common rather than fighting over differences of opinion.  Follow your heart and your dreams.  Don't let fear or self-doubt keep you from doing what you love.  Take steps every day to create a joyful, happy, peaceful life experience.

Observe your thinking.  Choose to focus your thinking time on what you WANT to experience.  Let go of past guilt and shame.  Move into living today.  Let go of future worry.  Move into life today.

I am here to help and support you in living your best life.
I choose to live on purpose.
I choose to find the beauty in each moment.

Will you join me?

With my deepest love,

Harness Your Power: Daily Dedication

Have you noticed how quickly a day goes by?  Days slide into weeks and then melt into months.  Since time moves so fast, it is crucial to consciously focus our energy on our dreams.

Consider this simple formula - Dreams + Dedication = Success

Why aren’t more of us successful? We all have dreams.  (If you aren't sure of what your dreams are, check out my video - Write Your Next Chapter. )   Even if we know what we want in 2010, many of us lack the dedication to see our ideas through to successful completion.

How dedicated are you to your personal success? “Most of us serve our ideals by fits and starts. The person who makes a success of living is the one who sees his goal steadily and aims for it unswervingly. That is dedication.” (Cecil B. Demille)

Many of us start the New Year with big hopes and dreams. We may even take the time to write down our goals. Yet, few of us remain focused DAILY on the ideal, goals and desires we have for ourselves.

Consider implementing these ideas:

STAY FOCUSED. DO A DAILY DEDICATION:

To stay on target, I recommend you take at least 5 minutes each day, at the beginning of the day, to remind yourself what you are aiming for.  Intentionally review your dreams and goals. Be clear on what actions you can take TODAY to take steps close to your dreams.  Say a prayer for Divine help, support and guidance.

TAKE DAILY BABY STEPS!

Yes, small steps add up.  Do your part.  Follow your guidance.  Focus your energy.  Do the legwork that comes to mind.  Though these steps might seem insignificant, they are essential in making progress to realize your big dreams.

HOLD YOURSELF ACCOUNTABLE. End the day with DEDICATION:

Each day before going to bed, do a five-minute review – did you stay focused on your goals? Did you make any progress on them? If so, pat yourself on the back.

If not, what distracted you? Can you remove these distractions and disruptions? Renew your commitment. Say a prayer.

Use these three ideas every day the entire year.  You will be amazed at the progress you can make with this type of clear dedication.

In the words of the great American football coach, Vince Lombardi, “A man can be as great as he wants to be. If you believe in yourself and have the courage, the determination, the DEDICATION, the competitive drive and if you are willing to sacrifice the little things in life and pay the price for the things that are worthwhile, it can be done.”

I'm practicing these ideas with my own dreams.  They keep me on track.
I'm here to help and support you in creating a life you love.

Check out my video on Writing Your Next Chapter -- it might be just what you need to be certain you know what you want to experience in this new chapter of 2010:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mHXod9UABwI

Harness Your Power: Understand rather than Be Understood

My life experiences are reminding me of the importance of understanding others and releasing the need to be understood.  I've also been shown that one way to show respect to others is to NOT convince them of your viewpoint when they really have no desire to see or open to it.

I'm guided to focus this week on letting others be who they are.  And not just to let them be but to open my heart in compassion and kindness to them even when I don't feel they are treating me or hearing me in the way I wish they would.  In fact, the work is to offer to others what it is we desire to experience.

Give out the gifts of love, acceptance, a listening ear, an understanding spirit this week -- especially give this to those in your life with whom you have the most conflict.  You may find that breakthroughs happen in unsuspected, miraculous ways.

One last thought is don't forget to set some New Year's intentions for your home and family life.  We often set our intentions in career, finances, and health.  Remember that creating a happy, loving, peaceful, harmonious home is essential to experiencing life in the way you want.

I'll share my family life intention with you:  I desire to create a fun, lighthearted, peaceful, loving and happy environment.  I desire that each person in my home feels completely loved and accepted.  I intend to grow these relationships through thoughtfulness and being awake to opportunities to express my love.

May you experience peace and harmony with those in your life,
