Harness Your Power: Growing In Patience

This week I have experienced a personal challenge (no, do not assume based on the picture on this blog that I am pregnant! Ha Ha). The challenge has come in the form of one that I have experienced before. In fact, I believe that it is a personal pattern I have (and that many of us have).

The pattern is one where I see that inside myself I have grown into something new but my "newness" has not manifested yet in the circumstances of my life. As I see my heart longing for the changes I desire to come about, I feel impatience -- and the impatience creates resistance and suffering inside me.

I've experienced this in many forms the past few years. A few years ago, I was sitting in a corporate job. I had outgrown the job and the situation as a whole. Yet, for over two years I sat there knowing I needed to have patience until the time was right to make a change. At first, my resistance to the situation in my job was strong. I just wanted change to come. I was so focused on my desire for change that I felt restless and sometimes exhausted by waiting. After awhile I grew to realize that if I simply embraced the moment and the current circumstance, amazing possibilities would open up in the situation.

The possibilities in that particular situation were remarkable -- I was able to clarify that I wanted to start my own business. I was able to remember the gifts and talents I had and determine how I wanted to express myself in the World. AND, during that time I started my business -- I would spend my lunch hour and evening hours doing life coaching. I also began to use my vacation days to get on stage and start speaking again. When I was finally laid off from my job, I was ready to fully launch my business. How gracious the Universe was in allowing me those years of transition.

None of that possibility would have opened up for me if I stayed in a state of resistance to my circumstances.

So, I find myself again in a similar situation. My heart is ready for a new home that "fits" who I have become the last few years. I find myself wanting to be "in the next stage." Yet, by fighting my current circumstances, I feel that resistance inside myself. This resistance to the NOW causes intense inner struggles for me. I have trained myself to observe my mind -- so I can clearly watch the mental patterns going on inside me.

I've realized that it all truly does boil down to choice of thought and choice of mental focus. It is a moment-by-moment choice to either resist the NOW or to flow with the NOW. It is a moment-by-moment choice to accept our circumstances or to judge them as "less than" what we expect. It is a moment-by-moment choice to feel gratitude or to find what is not quite right with a situation.

How powerful can we become? We can become as powerful as we choose to be in each moment.

I realized something the last week -- when we are developing new aspects of ourselves, it is as if a fetus is growing within us. I remember when I was pregnant with Maggie and Skye how long those last few months of waiting for my children to be born felt to me -- it felt like another 3 months would be an eternity. Everyone around me kept telling me to enjoy the time of quiet and rest. Yet, I just wanted the baby to arrive.

The last months of a baby's development in the womb are essential for the baby to be born thriving and in wonderful condition for entering the World. I would never want a premature baby -- because of the risks associated with it. I want my babies to be born fully ready for the World around them.

It is the same with those desires that form within us. The Universe is so kind to us by not allowing those desires to be birthed in form until they have matured -- and until we are fully prepared for their arrival in our lives.

So, here I am. I choose this moment to accept where I am. I choose to be embrace the desires of my heart and trust that they will be born at the perfect moment in time. I choose to be calm and peaceful as I grow. I choose to harness my power by growing my patience and by growing my trust that the Universe allows my desires to manifest into reality at the perfect moment.

I know this in my head. Slowly, but surely, it is seeping into my cells and I am seeing that I can embody these truths rather than just mentally acknowledging them.

Can you relate to this feeling? If so, please leave a comment or drop me an email at patricia@patriciaomoqui.com .

I am blessed to be learning and growing. I am blessed to be able to share these thoughts with you via this blog.

Have a week filled with patient accepting of your NOW moment.

With love, light, joy, peace and hope,

Trish

Harness Your Power: Knowing Abundance NOW

This week I have found that many of my life coaching clients and friends have been wondering how they can go about creating more abundance (in particular financial abundance) in their lives. As I gave thought to this idea and took some time to quietly contemplate each situation that was presented to me, I realized something very simple.

To create more abundance the starting point must be to feel the abundance you already have. It is a bit more than just listing on paper the things you are grateful for -- but that is a good place to start. It is essential to FEEL abundant and BE abundance embodied right now. Abundance is not in the future. No, it is within you and around you in this present moment.

As I spoke with each person this week I encouraged them to take stock of how abundant their lives are. Are your drawers overflowing with clothes? Are your closets stuffed to the max? Do you have trash bag after trash bag to put into your dumpster each week? Do you have food that rots more quickly than you can eat it? Do you have plenty of air to breathe all the time? Do you see how many trees, bushes, flowers and birds there are? There is abundance EVERYWHERE you look if you can open your eyes and see it.

The issues is that when we reach certain levels of having things, we always want something more. It's not a bad thing to want something more and to allow our desires to expand as long as we can enjoy where we are, treasure it and celebrate it. Enjoying our lives and our abundance is not something to wish for in the future -- it is an opportunity each of us can take right here and NOW.

So, if you want to create more abundance in your life, feel abundant all the time. See how the Universe has blessed you in so many areas of your life. See the beauty that surrounds you in nature. Take in the incredible views at night -- there are millions, billions and maybe even trillions of stars in the sky! (see picture above)

Is the Universe abundant? YES. YES. YES. Are you abundant? YES. YES. YES and YES AGAIN!

Think of the wonderful wells of resilience, courage and hope you have within you. You have an abundance of strength inside of you. You are abundant now.

Refuse to think that you are lacking something in your life. Focus instead on your abundance. Dream of what you wish to create moving forward down your path. Then, stay centered in feeling the wonder of your life, the beauty of the World around you and the amazing amounts of abundance that you are already experiencing.

Relax. Enjoy life. Enjoy every single aspect of what you are experiencing right now. Look into your eyes each morning as you glance in the mirror and say, "I am abundant in every way." See this in the lives of others around you. Don't buy into complaining or worrying. There is just too much wonder to focus on and gratitude to give for the life you have created already.

Then, just watch as the Universe aligns the people, the opportunities and the path ahead of you to bring you what your heart desires. Can you stay focused and full of faith as you trust the timing of these manifestations appearing in your life?

Yes, you can. You can choose to have an inner knowing that the laws of the Univere are at work and that at the perfect time, in the perfect way, that which your heart longs for will appear.

I know this topic intimately because I used to live in a feeling of scarcity and lack ALL the time. Now, I choose to feel abundant at all times. It makes life feel so much better and it has opened so many doors of opportunity for me.

Your focus this week is to harness your personal power by knowing and feeling abundance as often as you possibly can!

With an abundant smile and spirit,

Harness Your Power: Waking Up to Life!

Scene 1: The alarm clock goes off. The young woman rolls over in her bed and pushes the snooze button. She is dreading the day. Her job drains her -- she is busy at work but the type of work she is doing doesn't excite her anymore. The newness of the job wore off several years ago but she has continued at the job because she is unsure of what other types of jobs she'd even enjoy. She stays in bed so long that now getting ready for work and out the door on time means she will be racing against time. She goes into auto-pilot mode: shower, make-up, hair, clothes, coffee, packed lunch and out the door. She feels lowsy about the day ahead. She resigns herself to her life and keeps her daily routine going.

Scene 2: The alarm clock goes off. The young woman wakes with a smile. She feels rested from a good night's sleep. She takes a moment before sitting up to take stock of some of the things she feels thankful for -- a warm bed, a kind neighbor, a loving family, a strong body....She has energy this morning and feels ready for a new day. Each step she takes that morning feels wonderful to her: as she showers her body feels alive again. As she blow dries her hair, she sings her favorite song to herself. As she puts on her makeup she notices how beautiful her face is and she smiles at herself and says, "I'm proud of you." As she puts on her clothes she can see the progress in her body from the exercise that she added to her routine in the New Year. She heads to the kitchen for a light breakfast and smiles at the fact that there is good, healthy food in her fridge. She leaves her house feeling excited about the day and invigorated by the work she has ahead of her.

Two scenes. Two totally different feelings to life. One woman. Two different times in her life.

This is me. The first scene is me five years ago. The second scene gives a glimpse of me now.

The difference: I am awake to my life now. I used to robotically walk through my life. I would "grin and bear it" because that is what I was supposed to do. I was in non-stop motion several years back and wasn't fully aware of the choices I was making and the impact it was having on how I felt and what I was creating with my life. I was highly intelligent. I had a great heart that cared about people. I was just stuck in patterns and habits and I didn't even know it.

The change: many of you know that my daughter Maggie's illness was my point of choice -- I was either going to allow life to overcome me or I was going to learn to look at my life and live my life in a new way. Thankfully I was surrounded by wonderful people in my life and beautiful mentors who encouraged me down the path to waking up to my life again.

I woke up to my life by bringing my unconscious choices to conscscious awareness.

By observing and noticing my beliefs, thoughts, feelings, actions and habits of relating with others, I was empowered to consciously choose to create my life in a new way, in a way that I could enjoy.

This week two of my life coaching clients happened to be watching Oprah the same day. Oprah had Louise Hay on her show along with two life coaches. Neither of my clients had planned to watch Oprah that day but the circumstances of their lives led them to the show. Louise Hay is a beautiful soul -- she knows the power of our thoughts and the impact they have on creating the reality we live. She is awake to life and teaches others to wake up to their power and potential. She is someone I admire greatly.

The reason I bring up this show is that each of my clients was also introduced to a wonderful new book that Oprah has chosen for her book club: Eckhart Tohle's, A New Earth. Oprah and Eckhart are going to be teaching a 10 week class on the topic. My soul is singing because of this. They are introducing to millions of people the idea of waking up to life.

I decided to go to Barnes & Noble last night after the kids were in bed. I wasn't planning on buying the book but happened upon it. I knew buying it was the right move because I've enjoyed Eckhart Tohle's other work (The Power of Now, Stillness Speaks) and have been changed as I began to live the concepts he teached. I'm so glad I bought this book. After I got home I began reading and I couldn't put the book down. I've been saying the past year that I believe it is possible to experience Heaven on Earth -- that it is all a matter of how we view our lives, the thoughts we choose and our approach to each day. Eckhart's book echoes the same ideas.

I believe we are ready to wake up to our lives as a society. Yesterday as I sat waiting for my kid's to finish up their dance class, I was talking with some of the other mom's. We were talking about how easy it is to live a non-stop, totally booked life. One of the mom's remarked: "I hope that our society will change." I said in response, "I believe it can and will as each of us individually make changes to slow our lives down and live with a conscious awareness of what we are creating. . . .by doing this our inner lights shine brighter and people will notice a difference and want to understand how we've been able to create a life that is so enjoyable and full of good energy." I'm not sure if she could hear what I was saying, but I know in my heart that this is the case.

A wave of change is moving across our planet. People are ready to experience life in a new way. People are more open now than they ever have been to finding change and to experiencing joy again.

Are you ready? Are you feeling excited about each day or are you dreading it? Are you aware of your thoughts? Are you aware of the choices you make throughout the day and how each choice impacts your energy?

By observing and understanding what we are experiencing and how we create our own reality, we become powerful and gain the knowledge we need to step-by-step shift our lives.

Have a super week! Check out Eckhart's new book (or his other books). He is an amazing man with a deep understanding of life. Also, you can check out Oprah's course she is offering: http://www.oprah.com/obc_classic/webevent_registration.jsp .

If you are ready to wake up to your life in a totally new way, and if you feel you need some guidance and assistance in doing this, please let me know. My work as a life coach is to assist people in this process of regaining a true sense of their own power and purpose -- to show them that they can make new choices and in doing so, create new, amazing and joyful lives.

With love, hope and bright light shinging on the World to Wake more of us up to life,

Trish

Enjoying the Discomfort of Growth

What struck me most this past week is that for some reason I have created several situations in my life that have caused me some discomfort – not in a painful way, but in a way that caused me to feel very unsure of myself again. As I watched this feeling of discomfort, I realized how beautiful it is because when we find ourselves uncomfortable in situations it means that we have tremendous opportunity to grow and expand who we are.

I started my hip-hop dance class 2 weeks ago. The first week I went I quickly realized that I had a lot to learn. I tried my best to keep up with the rest of the class and get the moves down. It was hard work to keep my mind from judging me harshly! I felt the thoughts come up like, “You can’t do this. You aren’t good at this. Why are you even trying to learn. . .” I quickly stopped those thoughts and brought myself back to the present moment. Once I was fully present, I just decided to throw myself completely into the dancing and not worry about how I compared to others around me.

I felt such joy in dancing and saw how much fun it is to learn something new again. It was exhilarating listening to the music and diving in head first to something that was new. The discomfort of the situation turned into pure bliss – because I was putting myself out there – I was deciding to do something that made me uncomfortable so that I could get the results that I wanted in my life. I have been passionate about dancing for years and I’m finally taking a class.

Today I sat doodling in my journal after an event I attended for the Book Bank Foundation in AZ. As I drew and scribbled on the page, the following phrases popped out of my subconscious mind:

In the center of the page I wrote in big letters: GROW!

Around the word GROW I doddled these ideas:

Dive in head first!

You are ready!

Love your Journey (all aspects of it even the seeming negative, difficult and challenging).

Allow life to flow to you – just expand yourself in faith for what is to come.

Have courage.

Trust yourself.

Trust the process of blooming.

Trust others to their own journey.

Trust the Universe.

Let love expand.

That says it all for where I’m at in my journey. I am living what I teach you in this blog. I am living what I speak about to audiences. I am living what I teach people in life coaching sessions. Because I am living what I teach, I am constantly growing. I can also relate to people I am working with because I am constantly encouraging them to take baby steps to become what they want to be. Well, I am taking baby steps and feeling the challenge of growing in new ways too.

It takes courage to grow and expand. Yet, the fun, excitement and passion that flows from having courage and trusting yourself to navigate new situations allows you to Harness Your Personal Power in ways you never thought possible.

If you are sitting in a very comfortable life that you can navigate with very little thought or effort, it might be time to try something new! What have you always wanted to try? Is there a class you have been saying you’d take for years? Are there relationships you’ve wanted to develop that you keep putting off? Is there a cause that you care about that you’ve been meaning to get involved in? Life is what we make it. Why not create something extraordinary?

It feels a bit uncomfortable to put yourself into the unknown but the payoffs are wonderful. I never want to live my life saying, “I wish I had… or I should have done…..”

My children enjoy every aspect of learning. They don’t care if they can’t do the dance moves like the other kids in their class – they haven’t yet been taught to worry about these things. Our habits of worry and self-judgment can be released. Let’s make learning and growing our habits instead.

I love my life. I finally love every aspect of my life. I believe this is true for me now because I’m expanding beyond my initial discomfort with the new activities, events, classes and people I’ve put into my life.

Harness Your Power this week – EXPAND YOUR HORIZONS. Don’t sit and wait for life to bring excitement to you – instead, create excitement each day by trying new things. You may feel some initial discomfort in trying something new, but you will be so glad you did.

I’d love to hear about the new things you try and that initial discomfort you experience. . .isn’t the human experience fascinating?

With love, enthusiasm, and wonder for life,

Trish
