Turn Your Frown Upside Down!

Had to sit down quickly and write this blog.

I found myself trapped in a cage of worry in my head--yes, it happens to The Thought Dr. too.  Even with all my mental training, there are times when I repeat old patterns and this morning was one of those times.

God has a wonderful sense of humor!  My children had on a Mickey Mouse cartoon.  As I was getting ready I was listening to the words the characters were speaking.

I heard Mickey Mouse say, "If you look at things from different perspectives, things look different."  Mickey was searching for a clue from the ground but couldn't find the answer.  So, he grabbed some helium balloons and floated up to the sky and from that vantage point, he found the answer he needed!

Then, his friend Goofy came along. He was on a  bike but riding from an upside-down perspective.  He sang, "Turn your frown upside down and smile..."  Yes, he made me grin.  It broke me out of my head.  Goofy's words brought me out of my churning mind into a child-like smile.

So, join me today.  Let's take a handful of balloons and go higher. From our new vantage point, we can see what we have been missing.

Then, let's turn upside down if needed and smile.  With this joyful, happy energy, the world seems brighter!  We do not need to be worry warts, stuck in cages of fear.  We can break out of our minds and feel the freshness of this new day.  In doing so, all the answers and clues we need are there to be found.

Sending love.

  1. Nice piece. Made me Smile.

"We can break out of our minds and feel the freshness of this new day. In doing so, all the answers and clues we need are there to be found"

This part of the piece is easy to put in words, seems easy to do also but breaking out of our minds most times is what we need, to get on with a beautiful day...and a word of prayer. God help us all.

  2. Yes, very well said! @Toyeenojo, God can help us as we do our part. It takes willingness to step back and create space for silent moments...moments where we re-gain control of our mind instead of allowing it to run wild with fearful thoughts...it is possible to create deeper peace in our minds...
