Harness Your Power: What Are You Weaving?

I am almost done the entire manuscript for my book, Clarify Your Purpose & Live It!  I'm sooooo very excited to be so close to sharing it with you.  I love the topic of life purpose.  I have come to realize that the main purpose for each of us is LOVE.  In that light, I wanted to share a few thoughts with you on weaving a legacy of love into the lives of others.  I trust these words will get you thinking deeply this week.

What are you weaving?

The ancient Greek politician and statesman Pericles said, “What you leave behind is not what is engraved in stone monuments, but what is woven into the lives of others.”

So, what is it that you are weaving?

Take a close look at your interactions with others. I’d encourage you to answer each of these questions in writing.

Am I collaborating or competing?

Am I offering respect or discrimination?

Am I harmonizing or bickering?

Am I sharing or demanding?

Am I uplifting or criticizing?

Each of your thoughts, words and actions are the threads you weave.

Are you weaving something you are proud of? Is it that masterpiece you desire to be remembered for?

Each day is new and fresh. Each moment you have a choice of the impact you have on the people around you.

Embrace kindness, acceptance, compassion, understanding and giving and you are sure to make a tapestry that is splendid and leaves a lasting impression when your time on Earth is done!

Weaving a masterpiece with you,

Harness Your Power: Shifting Perceptions

My kids started a local summer camp this week.  At the camp is a young man who has a serious medical condition.  The young man walks and talks differently than the others.

Skye, my 5 year old, came home and was laughing.  She told me about the boy and said he was funny looking.  Skye and I had a heart-to-heart talk.  I reminded Skye that God gives each of us a special body.  I asked her what it would feel like if someone laughed at her for how she looked.  She didn't say much in response but I could tell she was thinking.

At the end of the week Skye proudly announced to me, "Mom, I was really nice to him today."

"Who, Skye?"  I asked.

She replied, "The boy who walks different than me."

"I'm so proud of you!" I exclaimed.

In one short week Skye's thinking had changed.  Her heart had opened and she was offering kindness rather than jeering.

Skye reminded me of the importance of loving others for who they are.  Each of us is created unique, special.

Let us take the time to see beyond the differences to the desire each of us has to be loved, accepted and seen for the remarkable being we are made to be.

I created a video about this last year...I think you might be inspired by it:

Harness Your Power: All You Need is Love

I want to keep things simple this week.  I offer a gentle reminder that if you love yourself your whole life will change.  You will blossom into the incredible, unique expression of LIFE that you are meant to be.

I have been seeing this in a 21 year old woman who adopted me as her mom about six weeks ago.  When we met she was sad, depressed and in rather deep abuse and despair.  In the past six weeks she has been transforming in the most remarkable way.  In fact, she said to me yesterday, "Mom, I used to hate myself.  Now, I am opening to self-love."  I have been reminding her that she deserves to be loved.

I've been observing this change first-hand.  Her faces and smile are brighter and she feels hope.  She sees some new possibilities for her life.  She has lots of steps to take to get where she wants to be in life, but she feels more energy and knows that she can do it.

All you truly need for radical life transformation is LOVE, deep love and acceptance for yourself.  The more of this you give yourself, the more easily you will make choices that are good for you.

You can do it.
I send you my love, encouragement and support.

There is nothing wrong with you...you are created the way you are for a very important purpose.

Affirm this week:  I open to loving myself more each day.
Say it with conviction.  Offer up a prayer asking for help with this.

Miracles happen.
With my love,

Harness Your Power: Accept the Moment

I find myself in a different set of circumstances this week. My husband is off to Nigeria doing business and the kids are both finished school. Thus, I am a full-time mom for the week with a few spaces to get my professional work done. There is part of me that, in the past, resisted times like this. I love writing, speaking and coaching so much that it is often challenging for me to let my working time go. I am passionate and focused -- sometimes to a fault!

So, the Universe likes to throw me some twists and turns to help me remember to relax, play and be a kid again. I know that if I resist the role I'm assigned this week, I will feel frustrated, as if I'm being held back from what I want. Rather than pushing against the stream of life and where it is guiding me this week, I want to relax into my assignment and celebrate it.

What is there not to love about a week with my two little angels. They want me to be involved in everything they do. They invite me to snuggle with them on the couch as we watch a movie. They want me to chase them around the pool and they shriek with delight as I sneak up on them to surprise them. They want to sing fun songs in the car. They like to indulge in icecream, chew gum with their mouths open and let out bodily sounds that crack us all up. Why would I ever think that I should be doing something else when I am being given a precious week of intimate moments with Maggie and Skye?

Thus, I watch my mind again and again. I observe that I judge my time and create an artificial hierarchy of what are "important" ways to spend my time and what are "less important" ways to spend my time. I have to laugh at myself and the way I've been conditioned. Yet, it is wonderful to know that I need not buy - in to old belief systems and conditioning. I break these patterns of thinking and embrace each moment in new ways.

So, my assignment this week is to have fun. To enjoy each moment of not working. To be focused in the hours that I am able to work and then to let it all go and be open to the miracle of love that I share with these little, earth angels who chose to grace my life with their presence.

What more could I ask for? I am blessed. I see the perfection of the circumstances the Universe brings me. I know I am being asked to flow with life and trust in a way that I couldn't have fathomed even a year ago. Life is truly an adventure, a joyful one, when we accept the idea that each moment happens in the way it does for the purpose of our soul's evolution.

I choose to celebrate this week and find more of my inner child. My children will guide me in this process and are my best teachers.

What are you resisting? Do you feel that you should be doing something else than what you are doing? How do you feel when you judge where you are as "not good"? Just notice. The interesting thing is that when we release the judgment and accept where we are, then it all changes anyway. It's as if the Universe wants us to come to peace with the current set of circumstances and just as we do, the floodgates open and we rush forward to the next chapter of our lives.

I'm here for you to listen, to love you and to share my experience as honestly as I can. I will be availalbe this week so don't hesitate to be in touch:)

Would love to hear from you!

Harness Your Power: Love and Give

This has been a shocking week for me. On Thursday I received a call from my mom. She told me that my grandfather had passed away. I could hardly believe the news. Even though he was 87, he was strong, positive and a constant in my life. Saturday we had a simple but touching memorial service to celebrate his life. As people shared stories about my grandfather and talked about how he had impacted their lives, the theme became clear: he loved and accepted every person he encountered and he had a giving heart. (This picture shows my grandfather and my niece, Trinity on Christmas Eve this past year).

It's amazing to see the ripple effect that my grandfather's love had on our family. Because of him, my mom learned to be kind and truly accept people. Thus, she passed that gift on to me and taught me, through her example, that every person I encounter is important, special and worthy of love.

My grandfather was extra-special to me. After my parents divorced when I was 16, my dad was absent from my life. During those years, my grandfather played a vital role. He came to all my volleyball and basketball games. He was one of the loudest voices in the stands, "Go Trish!" I heard that throughout every game and it was so comforting and encouraging to have him cheering me on. He was there when I scored my 1,000 point at Souderton High school. He walked me down the aisle at my wedding. He was at the hospital soon after each of my children were born. No matter where I was traveling or what I was up to in my life, I knew my grandfather was thinking of me, supporting me and praying for me.

An amazing life. I believe life is so very simple. Our true purpose is to be love, to share love and to engage in loving acts to show others they are important to us. That's it. Very easy to do. So, why does it get so complex?

It's ironic to me that today our pastor spoke about being a generous giver. It's like the Universe continued the theme from the memorial service yesterday -- what joy comes when we are willing to give from our heart lovingly. As we do, we receive tremendous gifts in return. There is no need to be stuck in a "MINE" mentality -- guarding our possessions, striving constantly after more stuff, postponing our joy for a day when we have more.

On another note, I had the opportunity to spend some extra time with my daughter Maggie this week when we went to a doctor appointment. On my way home she said to me, "Mom, I love my life. I love our neighborhood. I love my house. I love my friends. I love my school bus. I love my family." Wow. She has never so clearly expressed her gratitude for her life. I smiled wide as I heard her words. I am SO thankful to have a 6 year old daughter who loves life. There is very little more that I can ask for than that my children be happy, grateful and full of love.

I desire to pass on to my children what my grandfather gave to me: I want them to understand that every person is an incredibly unique creation of God. I want them to learn by my example that each person deserves to feel respected, accepted and loved rather than judged.

My joy in life right now is so profound. Though my grandfather's death has brought many tears, it has also shown me how simple, loving acts can make a tremendous difference in the world.

May you be filled with inspiration to LIVE LOVE this week.

All my love for each of you.
