I am writing and there is a nasty smell in the air. My eyes aren't as bright today as usual.
Yesterday I realized that something wasn't quite right in my house. I followed my nose to the issue: our basement was full of crap (I mean that literally). For some reason there was about two inches of nasty gunk all over the floor.
Fast forward to 11 p.m. last night. I stand outside our house with a Roto-Rooter plumber watching as he investigates the pipes from the street and into our basement. "A-ha" he says. I got the clog. It is gone." I go in and flush the toilets and run the sinks and sure enough, it is fixed.
BUT, there was still a sewagey mess in my basement. I could have gotten some professional help to clean this up but I did a bit of research on the Internet. My husband and I fearlessly took on the mess ourselves. And, it was DISGUSTING. The good news is that we have cleaned it up.
It got me thinking. Too often we humans let our inner "emotional pipes" get clogged. Over the years, there is a build up. Rather than processing the "emotional waste" as we could as each situations arises , we tend to ignore the feelings and underlying issues.
When the blockage gets too big, then there is a nasty overflow. It is at these points that we can no longer ignore the mess and we must do the work needed to clean ourselves up inside.
Pay attention to your emotional flow. Journal. Write down your feelings each day. Or, confide in a trusted friend. Don't hold all the hurt, confusion, pain or despair inside OR - you may find yourself in an emergency inner plumbing situation.
Remember, some situations REQUIRE professional help. Get that if you need it! The mess might be stinky to deal with but once it is cleaned up, you will find a new, easier flow to life.
With relief that the mess is gone,

Don't resist Life - FLOW!
"Seek not that the things which happen should happen as you wish; but wish the things which happen to be as they are, and you will have a tranquil flow of life”
Epictetus quotes (Greek philosopher associated with the Stoics, AD 55-c.135)
When the river of life is pushing you forward and you decide you aren't going to move, you are going to be exhausted from struggling to stay where you are. If you try to swim upstream against the flow, you won't get anywhere. How do I know? Well, many times in my life I have fought with the river of life. I don't do so anymore. I have learned my lessons.
In the past week there was both an earthquake and hurricane Irene in my area. Was it fun? No. But it was an experience. As I woke my children in the middle of the night because a Tornado warning sounded for our area, I took them downstairs to a safe place. I sat in the silence calmly giving thanks for each one of them. A moment of truth: my children are alive, healthy and even in the discomfort of a horrible storm, we have each other.
No matter the challenge or the seeming inconveniences life brings our way,
there is learning to be found in every moment.
So, why not stop resisting what life brings your way and instead GO WITH THE FLOW?
Learn. Grow. Gain as much from the moments of life as you can.
I have found that when things don't seem to be going my way, it is the time I must pay the most attention: I am being taught something essential for the next stage of my journey.
Flow, flow, flow as life brings you forward.

Harness Your Power: Flow with Life's Surprises
On Friday I boarded a plane to Dallas, TX. This was to be the first stop on my journey to Albuquerque, NM. We took off at 11 a.m. Plane had already been delayed several hours. While in flight we were told the Dallas airport was closed. The pilot took us to Little Rock, Arkansas. The airport didn't have any free gates open so we sat in the plane for four hours until the Dallas airport reopened.
While sitting there for four hours, I had some great conversation with fellow passengers and chose not to look at my watch even once. I reminded myself, "I will get there when I get there."
Finally we arrived. I go to the American Airlines counter and I'm told, "All flights to New Mexico have been cancelled for the remainder of the day." My mom and I are given a voucher for a local hotel and find our way there.
To go with the flow or to fight with the reality of life? It was all out of my control. All I could do was choose a perspective that permitted me to experience peace and well-being during these unexpected changes to our schedule.
Friday we woke up, had breakfast and boarded a plane to Albuquerque. At last we had arrived. It was a relief and a joy to finally be to our destination.
I'm here in Albuquerque with the intention of finishing my first book. I came here last October with the same intention. I made great progress on my last trip but there was more that I needed to learn, ways I needed to stretch in order for the books to be fully written.
I will be honest and tell you that I have NEVER written a book. It can feel daunting at times. The self-doubt arises, "Trish, who are you to think you have a book to write and share with others? You haven't done this so how do you think you know what it means to write a book? What are you thinking trying to pull this off?"
This trip I have decided to put all self-doubt and fear aside -- the ironic thing is that is partially what my book teaches. It's funny that writing a book on transforming your thinking forces the author to further transform her own :)
I am enjoying the process. I've decided to release all timetables and inner pressure to GET IT DONE. Instead, I am spending the time in silence and stillness. I'm swimming, walking and sitting in nature. I'm resting when needed. And, I'm opening my computer to write anytime I feel inspired. One day, I am sure, this book will get done.
The cover is designed. The graphic artist awaits the final text for interior design. I remind myself, all things happen in God's time. I surrender myself to this amazing process. I never would have believed it could be tihs challenging. Perhaps I never would have started it if I knew!
So this week, why not GO WITH THE FLOW! Enjoy the unexpected twists and turns on your path. If you open to these moments rather than fight with them, you may find some wonderful life lessons and even a few joyful moments too.
Pay attention to your fear and self-doubt. Why not see your power? Why not understand the potential you have? As you let go of these harmful thought patterns and open to seeing the good in yourself, you may find some amazing things come about -- who knows -- maybe YOU will be writing a book soon.
With all my love
Please say a prayer of inspiration for me this week :)

Harness Your Power: Step Forward In Faith
You know what you want to experience in life. In fact, opportunities present themselves. The Universe often sends us opportunities to see if we are willing, in faith, to step forward and seize the moment. "Are you REALLY read for what you want?" asks the Universe. We can set wonderful intentions of what we want to create. We can believe it to be possible. But if we don't take the guided steps that the Universe whispers (sometimes even shouts) to us, we aren't really ready and fully prepared for the opportunities that present themselves in our lives.
Daily baby steps add up. We must be willing to step out in faith-- even when the bank account is low, the self-doubting thoughts still echo in one's mind and life feels dark. The choice we have is whether we will focus on what seem to be difficult circumstances or will we quiet our mind, and find the light within our hearts. This light shines brightly, especially when life feels particularly dark.
Do you trust? Will you surrender? Will you flow with life or will you worry? We have so many choices each moment of our lives.
Take time this week to observe the opportunities you have each day to step forward in faith towards your dreams. You can do it! Quiet the fears. Stop the self-doubt. Don't worry. You are supported as you move forward. Stay with this moment -- and don't jump to the future.
Deepening my faith,
Patricia Omoqui

Allowing Your Life to Flow
There is a big difference between allowing your life to flow and trying to "make things happen." In my experience the difference is that allowing life to flow represents a gentle, easy unfolding of life's experience. It means releasing the need to "figure it out" on your own and instead, allow the inner voice of guidance direct you one baby step at a time towards what you truly desire. It means letting go of the inner pressure and timetables and trusting the beauty of the twists and turns our paths take. It means relaxing into life -- enjoying every moment and expecting miracles (big, small, gigantic and minuscule) to appear all the time.So many of the circumstances of life are NOT in our control. What we can control is the approach we take to our lives -- the thoughts we think about our life experience, about who we are as beautiful beings in this wonderful life experience. We can control the focus of our mind -- thinking upon the passion we have, the dreams that are in our hearts and the wonder of change that we can bring to our World. By focusing on our desires, we open up to allowing life to flow to us.
Life does flow to us. So not only do we need to allow the flow of life, but we need to be able to see that flow coming to us clearly. I realized this weekend that there is so much good flowing into my life all the time -- the question is, how much of this flow can I allow myself to receive? I can only receive that which I am open to and that which I have the eyes to see. Will I receive the beauty of my child's smile in the morning or will I focus on the rush of getting her on the bus? Will I receive the kindness of a friend offering to help me on a project or will I decide I have to do this on my own? Will I enjoy the money in my wallet and buy something my heart desires or will I be afraid that money may not flow to me in the future and hold myself back from buying something that is just right for me?
Will you take a new approach this week and release the need to make things happen? By allowing your life to flow easily from moment to moment, you harness your personal power -- no longer expending your energy and power on worry, the desire to control circumstances and fear. Flow with life moment-by-moment. Then, notice the miracles that come your way in all shapes and sizes. Next, open to enjoy and receive all these wondrous opportunities that flow your way.
Life is as easy or as hard as we make it to be. So, why not allow yourself an easy week this week? Refresh your spirit. Relax into the moment. Celebrate the grandeur of your spirit! Dance in a way that you haven't danced in a year. Be YOU on purpose and enjoy every second of this life experience.
With love, light and all blessings to each one of you,
Trish
